“Antivirus”, “Internet Security” or “Total Security”?

In recent years, most antivirus software manufacturers have divided their products into three groups: so-called basic “Antivirus”, extended “Internet Security” and complete “Total Security”. We are introducing you to the features and differences of each of the packages.

When making decisions on buying antivirus software or, to put it better, security protection for our computer, in addition to choosing a suitable manufacturer, we are facing an additional dilemma, namely, which protection package to choose.

“We could say that the best choice is a ‘Total Security’ package, as it contains by far the most security solutions and utilities, and it fully protects all our devices. In reality, however, it often turns out that we may not need certain utilities at all, and they can even handicap us; nevertheless, we still want to be as secure as possible on the web, in which case the best option for us is the so-called ‘Internet Security’ package. However, we should not overlook the basic ‘Antivirus’ package, as it contains the nucleus of all the three packages as well as the most powerful tool – antivirus software.”

Antivirus (Antivirus Software)

Antivirus is the most important and most satisfactory protection of our computer and our data. Antivirus reliably protects us from viruses and malware, and alerts us of risky websites.

Internet Security (Internet Security Software)

Internet Security has all the features of a classic antivirus, and additionally, some other features not included in the basic Antivirus package. Internet Security protects us from viruses, phishing, spyware, online threats, and cyber attacks. Internet Security includes all the features of an antivirus, firewall, privacy protection, e-mail protection, etc. It also constantly protects all of our data sent over the Internet (e.g., our payment and credit card information, e-mail passwords, etc.).

Total Security (Total Security Software)

Total Security In addition to all the features of Antivirus and Internet Security, Total Security usually includes some additional features, such as the ability to encrypt files, manage passwords and users, parental controls, local and online backup options, secure VPN-connection, installation on different platforms (devices and operating systems), etc. These utilities, however, may vary among manufacturers.

We could say that the best choice is the “Total Security” package, as it contains by far the most security solutions and utilities, and fully protects all our devices. In reality, however, it often turns out that we may not need certain utilities at all, and they can even handicap us; nevertheless, we still want to be as secure as possible on the web, in which case the best option for us is the so-called “Internet Security” package. However, we should not overlook the basic “Antivirus” package, as it contains the nucleus of all the three packages as well as the most powerful tool – antivirus software. Our decision can be very simple, especially if we know what kind of protection we want or need.

Večina proizvajalcev protivirusne programske opreme je v zadnjih letih svoje izdelke razdelilo na tri skupine: t. i. osnovni “Antivirus”, razširjeni “Internet Security” in na popolni “Total Security”. Predstavljamo vam lastnosti in razlike posameznega paketa.

Ko se odločujemo za nakup protivirusne programske zaščite ali bolje rečeno varnostne zaščite za svoj računalnik, se poleg izbire primernega proizvajalca srečamo še z dodatno dilemo, kateri paket zaščite izbrati.

V realnosti se velikokrat pokaže, da določenih pripomočkov morda sploh ne potrebujemo in nas ti lahko celo obremenjujejo, kljub temu pa želimo biti najbolj varni na spletu, potem je za nas najboljša opcija t.i. spletni paket “Internet Security”. Nikakor pa ne smemo spregledati niti osnovnega protivirusnega paketa “Antivirus”, saj ta vsebuje bistvo vseh treh paketov in najmočnejše orodje – protivirusni program. ”

Antivirus (Protivirusna zaščita)

Antivirus je najpomembnejša in najugodnejša zaščita našega računalnika ter naših podatkov. Protivirusni program nas zanesljivo varuje pred virusi in zlonamerno programsko opremo ter nas opozarja na tvegana spletna mesta.

Internet Security (Spletna zaščita)

Internet Security ima vse funkcije klasičnega antivirusa, dodatno pa še nekatere druge funkcije, ki jih pri osnovnem paketu Antivirus nimamo. Internet Security nas varuje pred virusi, lažnim predstavljanjem, vohunsko programsko opremo, spletnimi grožnjami in kibernetskimi napadi. Paket Internet Security vključuje vse funkcije protivirusnega programa, požarni zid, zaščito zasebnosti, zaščito e-pošte itd. Nenehno varuje tudi vse naše podatke, poslane preko spleta (npr. podatke naših plačilnih in kreditnih kartic, gesla e-pošte itd.).

Total Security (Popolna zaščita)

Total Security ima poleg vseh funkcij protivirusne zaščite (Antivirus) in spletne zaščite (Internet Security) ponavadi še nekatere dodatne funkcije, kot so možnost šifriranja datotek, upravljanja z gesli in uporabniki, starševski nadzor, lokalno in spletno varnostno kopiranje, varna VPN-povezava, namestitev na različne platforme (naprave in operacijske sisteme) itd. Našteti dodatki se seveda lahko razlikujejo med proizvajalci.

Lahko bi rekli, da je najboljša izbira paket popolne varnosti “Total Security”, saj ta vsebuje daleč največ varnostnih rešitev in pripomočkov ter zaščiti vse naše naprave v celoti. V realnosti se velikokrat pokaže, da določenih pripomočkov morda sploh ne potrebujemo in nas ti lahko celo obremenjujejo, kljub temu pa želimo biti najbolj varni na spletu, potem je za nas najboljša opcija t.i. spletni paket “Internet Security”. Nikakor pa ne smemo spregledati niti osnovnega protivirusnega paketa “Antivirus”, saj ta vsebuje bistvo vseh treh paketov in najmočnejše orodje – protivirusni program. Odločitev je lahko zelo enostavna, sploh če vemo, kakšno zaščito želimo oziroma jo potrebujemo.
